Glinda the not so “Good” Witch
This costume is made for the character Glinda (also referred to as Galinda) in the musical Wicked. It focuses on bringing out the negative qualities in her character that contribute to the downfall of Elphaba and the City of Oz. Although the frilly feminine silhouette compliments her bubbly disposition, her exposed cage crinoline skirt and the bird on her hat show her support for the cruel treatment of the animal creatures in Oz. The amplification of these characteristics become a sharp contrast to her counter part, Glinda the Good Witch in the Wizard of Oz.
The hoop shirt is constructed from steel hoop boning and is inspired by the shape cage crinoline in the 1860s. Glinda’s small bird hat fascinator is made from fosshape.
